PAL All-League Volleyball —

5 12 2010

The Fall season officially ended yesterday with the CCS football finals — congratulations are in effect for Terra Nova and Sacred Heart Prep who captured CCS championships. Sequoia fell short in their bid.

But that’s not what this is about, the PAL has announced their selections for the All-League Volleyball teams in the Bay and Ocean division. Your MVP’s were also announced … and your winner is, big surprise:

MICHELLE NEUMAYR (BURLINGAME): For the record, I’ve watched Michelle play since she was a freshman and she’s a stud. A couple of highlights this season as reported by my newspaper —

(10/18) Burlingame (7-0 PAL Bay, 18-3 overall), however, has the ultimate crowd quieter in the form of Cal-bound outside hitter Michelle Neumayr, who, believe it or not, got better during the off season. She had her usual assortment of eye-opening kills — she is, by far, the best hitter in the PAL — but even more impressive was her passing and her serving. She finished with 18 kills and 10 aces.

“When she’s on, she’s been crazy (good),” Erle said.

(9/29) The Bears (2-1, 8-6) received a kill from Sarah Collins and a combined block from Pauli King and Seini Moimoi to up their advantage to four points, 22-18. However, the Panthers went on a 6-1 run, capped by a Michelle Neumayr crosscourt kill — the Cal-bound senior had a match-high 29 kills — to set up match point at 24-23.

Michelle is on her way to play for the California Golden Bears and I’m sure she’ll be fantastic. In the Ocean Division your MVP is Katie Eastman (Terra Nova) and Danielle Peranich (Half Moon Bay). Below you will find the rest of the All-League First Teams. Congratulations to the girls that made the teams.
