Earthquakes vs. NY Red Bulls

3 07 2011

You know you’ve missed the San Jose Earthquakes updates! We made it out to Stanford Stadium last night for some game and post-game fireworks as the Quakes met up with the Red Bulls of New York.

San Jose did an all-out marketing blitz for this game — NY has some big stars (read: Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez) and SJ wanted to take advantage of that. They moved the game to Stanford (60,000 plus seats) and reported an attendance of 41,028 … the third largest in Earthquakes history (and the largest for a game that wasn’t a double-header).

Game story will be live tomorrow … we’ll post a link to it then, and maybe some more stuff (1994 U.S Men’s National Team reunion!). For now, here’s the press conference video with head coach Frank Yallop. The pops you hear in the background? They’re from the fireworks extravaganza going on outside the press conference room.
