S.I. SWIMSUIT ISSUE — ALEX MORGAN

I’m going to allow myself a total MAN moment on July! and share a little bit of video from the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue which found a way to combine a couple of my favorite things into one package. (1) Soccer (2) Art (3) Alex Morgan.

Morgan burst onto the scene last summer in the Women’s World Cup. The striker has continued her trek to the top of the striker depth chart and appears to be the heir apparent to Abby Wambach.

When she’s not busy scoring goals, apparently the can rock the hell out of a swimsuit. I approve.

The artwork is seamless and Alex is flawless — girl can rock a painted bathing suit! How many women can say they can pull that off?

Since I’m in the soccer mood, I got my Sports Illustrated Issue today … and look who was the centerpiece. I swear, Sports Illustrated + Messi in centerfold = better than Playboy

Midfielders: DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Michael Bradley (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Germany), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany), Clint Dempsey (Fulham, England), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles), Maurice Edu (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Benny Feilhaber (AGF Aarhus, Denmark), Stuart Holden (Bolton, England), Jose Torres (Pachuca, Mexico).

I highlight Findley because he’s probably the biggest eye-opener for me on the roster. I would have taken Brian Ching, but there might be more to the injury that I thought. That said. good luck, U.S.A!

And lastly today, not that I’m particularly proud of my favoritism, but before I was a journalist, I was a fan. So it’s GREAT to see Robbie Van Persie score twice today against Mexico. 2-1! Han Holland! Let’s go, boys!
